Precision Nutrition
A Nutrition Plan for Real People
Every year, especially around New Years, countless people make commitments to themselves to finally lose that extra body fat, get lean, get healthy, put on some muscle, etc. But what percentage of people do you think actually achieve their goals? Hardly any. Why you ask? Because they don't have a good plan. They try to go at it themselves. They don't have the proper education, motivation, resources, etc. to be successful.
Step #1 - Education
The first thing you need to know is which foods are good for you, which foods are bad for you and how many calories are in each food you eat. From there you can find lower calorie alternatives to your favorite foods that supports your goal of fat loss. For instance, if you enjoy a nightly sweet snack and alternate between cookies, ice cream and grapes then knowing how many calories are in each and why you like to eat them can help you understand why you may want to snack on the grapes and not feel so guilty. And for that matter, per one of your normal servings, which has more calories, the ice cream or the cookies? Do you know:
This is why you need education. In other words, you need to know how to eat, what to eat and when to eat. Precision Nutrition provides all of that and more. But knowing is not enough, you need motivation and coaching.
Step #2 - Motivation & Coaching Knowing is not the same as taking action. Let's discuss motivation.
You Need a Plan First off, don't follow a diet. Change the way you eat. Change your eating habits towards healthier, lower calorie foods that taste great and make you feel and look great. This is where Precision Nutrition comes in. Precision Nutrition tells you the what, the how and the when. It helps by building good nutrition habits that last for a lifetime. After all, who wants to lose weight and look good for just a short period of time? We humans are creatures of habit. Everything we do is built upon daily habits that we have practiced over and over. How do we change habits? For most of us, very slowly, one at a time, step-by-step. In motivation circles the phrase, "change is pain" is becoming popular. There are very specific neuropsychological reasons for change being hard. For now it is enough to remember that your brain does not like to change its habits so the best way to go about making change is slowly. (Statistically 1 - 2 % of people can just decide to make a change and do it no problem, the rest of us are mere mortals and must make slow gradual changes.) Whenever I coach my clients through changing their nutrition I find that each individual has their own unique challenges and easy parts. My job is then to find the biggest bang for their buck changes that are easy for them to make and avoid the hard changes till later when they are ready to make them. Yeah, change the easy things first, then the hard things will get easier. You don't have to suffer to change if you do it right. But you need a coach who understand this process to work with you. More on that in a moment.
Murphy-Proof Your Nutrition In Z-Health when we discuss changing habits we have a saying, we say that you must "Murphy-Proof" your life. When ever you try to make changes Murphy's Law will kick in and what can go wrong probably will. Murphy-Proofing your life is all about trying to stack all of the cards in your favor. For instance, if you love to eat Oreos and will buy them if you see them then perhaps you need to make sure you don't walk past them in the grocery store. This is just an example and may not work for you.
Motivation Finding the deep rooted emotional reasons you want to look better, feel better, etc. is key to your success. After all, adults are driven by purpose. Who cares about losing weight unless you have a reason. That reason could be to avoid early death from heart disease, avoid health issues such as diabetes, to out-perform your competition, or to attract a mate, or all of those! Regardless, keeping your motivating factors in-sight and in-mind is key.
Step #3 - Resources Ok, quick recap. If we want to lose weight we know that we need: Your two resources are... 1) Me 2) Precision Nutrition
Me I will help you with the habit aspect, breaking bad habits, building new ones. I will find out the easy things for you to change that make the biggest difference and we will change those first. We will make the change as slowly or as fast as you, the individual, are prepared to do. And thus, make change less painful! I will also help you get in touch with your emotional reasons for your goals and show you how to tap into those powerful needs to get results.
